In the blink of an eye it seems like we’ve lost our best friend. All of a sudden, like a teenage boy whose acne cleared up and girls started noticing him, ESPN has abandoned its friends — the fans. I, for one, am tired of waiting around for this trend to change; moreover, I am beginning to fear that we have lost the true essence of SportsCenter for good. Yeah, I read articles on ESPN.com, and I can dissect and reread newspaper box scores on my own time, but it just isn’t the same. I like seeing A.I. hit a clutch reverse lay-up more than just reading that he shot 8-17 from the floor. I like hearing Jon Miller call a Sunday Night Baseball game-winning home run more than just seeing it in the headlines. That was the point of SportsCenter, to add that extra spice to our sports life.
Just a snippet. Very interesting op-ed.

There are many espn detractors on this foram for the entire history of it and I never could understand the disdain for espn. I would always think to myself, what is wrong with these people? espn is great. Well, the last few months I have to agree with you all. I am tired of the comedy central routines and the self rightousness of all the anchors and especially the ( here ya go 007) eastcoast bias. I very rarely watch SC anymore except when I haven't seen a game or score or if I'm on vacation or something similar. I'd rather spend time with you folks. :PRIP Stan the Man

Sportscenter is good background or when they run specific segments.
ESPN News never lets you down. 80% of their programming is highlights.

The only fucked up thing about Charter is that ESPN, ESPN 2 and ESPN Classic are on the same package but ESPN News isn't. Retarded.
OTOH, I got tired of my signal going out every time it rained, so I went back to cable.RIP Chris Jones 1971-2009

In about three years of DirecTV, I have had about half a dozen times when I could't receive my picture due to rain fade.
Even then, it lasted about five minutes.
I really like DirecTV.When you say to your neighbor, "We're having a loud party on Saturday night if that's alright with you," what you really mean is, "We're having a loud party on Saturday night."

Entertainment Sports Programing Network.
From 79 to the early 90's the emphasis was on the Sports.
Since then, it's Entertainment.

The specialty shows, like NFL Prime Time and Baseball Tonight, are awesome for highlights. Sportscenter not so much any more.
I love Prime Time except for the fact that I have to listen to Berman. And Jackson.
OK, basically I love the highlights.Dude. Can. Fly.

Prime Time is awesome. Too bad it's over after this season. :(Official Sponsor of the National League Three-Peat.

I've had it for a year, I think I've lost signal 2 or 3 times, never for more than a few minutes.
And I can get Sunday Ticket, which pretty much ends the discussion.
