  • Rewards Cards

Sorry guys, I just want to re-visit this again.

Does anyone have the Capital One No Hassle card?

I am torn between two cards..........Discover cash back and Capital one.

I am planning a trip to Hawaii next August and thought about opening the no hassle card and build up 'miles' to use for that trip. If it saves me a few hundred bucks on airline, so be it.

I will be remodeling a home and buying some what large items with a credit card, so I need a rewrds card to get something out of it. IF I use discover cash back I can get either cash or gift cards from certain places.......which is always nice.

My question is with caiptal one, it says one mile per dollar........but that cant be true. If I go out and buy something for 500 bucks........does that mean I have a free trip to Chicago already? That cannot be that easy.

Again, I am not looking for a free airline ticket to Hawaii, but just something that will knock off the price. Also I have questions for those of you that went to Hawaii in the past.

What card should I get? And what cards do you have?

Thanks, and I promise......I will never ever start this topic again.

Oh, and Sony cards are fucking terrible.

No, it means one frequent flier mile -- as in spending $500 will get you the same amount of credit you'd get if you flew from STL to Chicago, basically. Most domestic flights will set you back 25,000 miles, though AA and United are running a deal now that some shorter ones are only 15,000.

So in other words, you'd have to spend $25,000 to get a free domestic ticket.

AA runs specials where x amount of miles and $100 or some other amount will get you a roundtrip ticket to one of the select places.

If you get an AA card, they offer incentives so you can start with something like 10k miles already on your account. You can only use the mile on AA family flights. It is fairly easy to rack up miles with that card too. 10 for 1 deals at many local eating establishments, you get bonus miles for booking flight on AA's web site. Hotels and car rental places offer bonus miles if you are in the AA frequent flyer program, which you will be in when signing up for the card.

A trip to Hawaii is 45k frequent flyer miles, a trip to anywhere in the lower 48 and Puerto Rico is 25k.

"No hassle" isn't really a reward. Its a marketing ploy. Make sure you look a the fine print of the REWARDS, not just the name of the card.
When you say to your neighbor, "We're having a loud party on Saturday night if that's alright with you," what you really mean is, "We're having a loud party on Saturday night."

Ok, checked into Capital One Cards..........

You get one pt per dollar, which they call one mile per dollar.

You take the total dollar amount on your airline purchase and multiply by 90 and that is the number of pts/miles you need on card to redeem it for free.

So if you buy a ticket for 100 dollars (where is that flight going from STL, Columbia?) it would cost you 9,000 pts or basically spending 9,000 dollars.

Even if they spotted you 10k-15k at the start of your membership, you still would not get a damn thing out of it, except a free ticket to fly a 150 dollar plane ticket..........and that is one ticket.

It is pretty much a rip off unless you own a company that you can buy mass products that immediatley pay you back.

Then I called Discover to see about transferring my current card to the 5% platinum card......I have a 1,000 dollar limit. My credit score is 780 and they would only up my limit to 1750.

So needless to say they can go fuck themselves.

Any idea on what other cards I should look into? I am researching American Express Blue.
