  • Jim Leyland among potential candidates

    Others include:

Former Mets Mgr., Art Howe, & current A's Mgr., Ken Macha, who currentlu doesn't have a contract for 2006.

The A's would be FOOLS to let him go. He knows how to win with a cheap payroll.

Maybe Leyland would do a better job in Pittsburgh because he cares about the city and the team, but he was awful in his year with the Rockies- his last managing job. He basically retired during the season without telling anyone; never got a place to live here, slept at the clubhouse if I remember correctly (he may have had a hotel room). Closed the bars every night and just didn't give a shit.

The Phillies should have hired Leyland instead of Manuel.

          Leyland wanted that job, IIRC.

            Has Lelyland changed his stance?

I thought for the past few years he'd made it known he had no interest in managing again...

Of course, that means squat...but he seemed serious...

Yes, he wants to manage again. He lobbied hard for the Phillies job.
