I have never quite understood why ESPN has two separate college football analyst teams.

Alberts won't be out of work for long. Fox will undoubtedly call him in an effort to have him be a part of their BCS package, which begins in Jan. 2007. They already tried (and failed) to get Herbstreit.

I actually started to like Trev. He was an OSU hater for awhile, but slowly came around. May on the other hand needs to go. The guy is probably the worst analyst ever. Dev you need to apply.

I won't miss him. I'm not a big college football fan either. I'll see those guys in the NFL.

Maybe my attitude would be different if I had attended a university.

I'm even LESS a fan of the pre & post game shows....

Seriously, if anybody can expain why they have the Gameday crew and the second and completely redundant crew with Alberts, Davis and May, I'd like to hear it.

Two reasons--one, because up until this season, both Corso and Herbstreit were the game announcers on the Thursday night game and they needed some other people to do halftime (Corso isn't on the game anymore, just Herbstreit is) and because it's harder to do halftime shows from remote sites than it is from a studio, if you want to include highlights, because there are fewer editing decks and it's harder to bring in satellite feeds, especially for so many games.

They should have John Buccigross replace him.

Eh. I still think the two separate crews are lame.

Espn's college football coverage and Gameday set-ups are the best thing they do. However, I can understand Alberts' frustration. Corso is long past the day where he can do snappy, instant analysis that is required for these shows, and Alberts rightfully deserved Corso's seat. I watched the opening night exchanges between the Gameday crews, and Alberts sat with his jaw on the table with some of the stupid things Corso said.
