  • Things I want to see in NO and things I don't

I would like to see the mayor - and the head of FEMA in the Superdome until the last person is out.

I would like to see all TV people carrying water and food at all times.

I don't want to see another news report with a TV guy pointing out this person needs help without helping them.

I was thinking the same thing about the news reporters. While I think the images coming from NO are needed for the rest of the US to see what's going on, I do think that it's sickening that these people are, literally, being exploited for ratings. It's one thing to use your pull as a member of the media to tell the appropriate officials that they suck at what they are trying to do, but to constantly say that this town or that city is completely ruined is something I need to hear only once.

Give me information, not a news story.

Edit: I also watched CNN last night and, from what I can tell, any person in NO who wanted to go on air and tell other family members that they were alive and holding on was granted that opportunity to do so, which I think speaks a lot for CNN. And Anderson Cooper ripping on the Governor was awesome. Even in a crisis like this, politicians will act like politicians first. totally disgusting.

ok, so instead of working the phones and contacting key people to make the final evacuation and cleanup possible, you would rather have these leaders in glad handing the people. yeah that will do a lot of good.

why dont we all form circles and join hands and sing john lennon songs as well.

#4 stop asking the poor people why did they not head the warnings of the Mayor and the weather channel......if you have been to NO you know how many poor people are on the streets that have no access to cars and whatnot.

Stop rubbing it in that everything that they did have is now gone and stop giving them shit about not leaving when they had the chance....

I'm not clear on the way in which this can be accomplished, but from what I understand unless the President declares martial law, the Federal Military cannot be sent in to domestic territory as a police force. Now, I don't know if he can do that if the governor asks for the Federal Military to enter the area as a police force.
