Cardinals, Pirates disciplined
A total of three members from the staffs of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Pirates have been disciplined for their participation in on-field incidents prior to the game between the two clubs on Aug. 24 at PNC Park in Pittsburgh. Bob Watson, Vice President of On-Field Operations for Major League Baseball, made the announcement.
• Pirates hitting coach Gerald Perry has been suspended for eight games and fined an undisclosed amount for his inappropriate and violent actions during the incident.
• Cardinals pitching coach Dave Duncan has been suspended for four games and fined an undisclosed amount for his inappropriate and aggressive actions during the incident.
• Pirates manager Lloyd McClendon has been suspended for one game and fined an undisclosed amount for his inappropriate actions, which contributed to inciting the incident.
Each suspension is scheduled to begin on Friday, Sept. 2.
