  • Ideas for sending a message to Gas Co.

We are such a driving society -

    Does anyone have anything.

Labor day is out - to many have plans.

What about next W - TH - F. Nothing but emergency gas buying?

I know its weak but it might be a start.

I'm open for anything except continuing the same ole same ole - drop the soap routine.

Why use that to send a message? Why not just reduce fuel usage, and permanently? These guys are capitalists. I promise you, they're not interested in messages. Unleaded gasoline is now $2.40 nationwide at the wholesale level. What is it you think you're going to tell them that is more important than that?

Glad to see new SUV orders were down 33% for the month of August. That's a great start.

This kept coming up on our show this morning... "Everyone should not buy gas for just one day, that would change things!"

Yes, and that has as much chance of happening as my proposal: We all switch to using our lettuce-powered flying cars.

We can make a stand - even if just for a day or two - the American public doesn't have to keep taking it.

3 days this time - maybe a week next time.

I know I am presenting a proposal that has many flaws - but we have to at least try something. This old hope it will change for the better ain't cutting it.

I hear the lettuce-powered cars are the prefered means of transportation for spaghetti monsters. Is there any truth to this?

The oil companies couldn't give 2 shits if we boycotted for a day, 3 days, a week, or even a month. Airshark is right, the only thing that will even cause them to raise an eyebrow is a wholesale lifestyle change, something that would permanently cut into profits. Aside from that, they know we'll need gas eventually.

Not I. They knew what they were buying when they dropped that check at the dealership. It's not like they got home and said "Fuck! This thing only gets 11 mpg. Why didn't anybody tell me this?" :o

I had an SUV that got crap mileage (15city/18 hwy with a good tailwind or a draft), and I knew what I was getting into when I bought it. Of course, I traded it at the right time too, which was about 6 weeks ago when gas started climbing slowly but steadily.
