  • What should President Bush do ...

He's cutting his vacation short and has made a few statements, but what can the President do at a time like this to show leadership?

I am thinking you don't want him there "helping." I know he tried that in 2004 in Florida and was slammed.

I think if you're him you go on national TV with a direct plan on what will be done. Then you go to some place like Baton Rouge or other less affected areas and talk to people affected by the storm.

Behind the scenes you make sure every department in the government is mobilized and have everything they can to help out.

I know you're jesting, but they say they have enough. But then again they're moving national guards from Alabama to Louisiana. I'm thinking ... why?

Why not get some Idaho or Montana national guard folks down there? Alabama has their own problems.

I doubt it really matters what he does, because no matter what it is it will still be wrong to most people

What he should really do is sell out to help, of course. Mobilize all the NG and the Army that he can. Going to LA would be good PR but providing necessary resources is what will make a difference.

Good point. Can he do anything that would make a difference to most people?

Surely, some of the aid destined for Iraq, etc. could be diverted to the area. They should have had a group of C17's loading up as soon as Katrina showed her true colors as a major storm.

Guess that would stretch the miltiary even thinner.

Since we are good buddies with Iraq now, he should invite a bunch of them over here to help us out on the cleanup.
“I’ve always stated, ‘I’m a Missouri Tiger,’” Anderson said March 13 after Arkansas fired John Pelphrey, adding, “I’m excited about what’s taking place here.”

Asked then if he would talk to his players about the situation, he said, “They know me, and that’s where the trust comes in.
