  • Rams Post-Mortem

Let's have the good, the bad, and the ugly. If someone could fill us in on how the lines looked and whether the Rams kicked ass because the Lions sucked...well, shucks, that'd be great.
On my mind: How can I shut up the singing English graduate student? How many more lossess will KU's basketball team have than its football team? How will the Rams front office screw up this year?

THe Rams didn't have much of a challenge. THe Lions D was really bad and the O was Bad. S. Jackson ran thru the D-line line nothing. THe D-back were no where close to the Holt or Bruce.
Joey Ballgame was back in last season fourm. He threw the ball behind his receivers all night .

The Lions are now rivaling the Gridbirds as the most inept franchise in the league. I can't believe Millen just got a new contract with the way he has run their team. Mooch looked like he needed to start shooting horse on the sidelines. Jason Hansen is the only guy on that team that looked decent last night.

Ike and Co. just toyed with their D-backs all night. Our O-line attempted to get Bulger killed on a couple occassions. I have no idea why MM left him in that long. Action Jackson was a man playing with boys. If the line can block for him, he is going to have a monster year. Our D-line actually showed signs of a pulse. Arch got faked out of his jock again by one of their RBs. So much for his move back to his normal position. Stone put a hit on Harrington that I was surprised he got up from. I think Mooch would have been happier if he just stayed down. Over all, it looked the the Horns were playing a Pop Warner team. I could see that team going 3-13, especially if Orton plays well in CHI.

Dear God, KBF here. I'd just like to say thanks, once again, for allowing Dusty Baker and I to live during the same time period. Every time I think he's given me his last gift -- overpitching Prior in the playoffs, getting cocky in Game 6 vs. the Angels, blowing another game for the Cubs -- he does something stupid like pitching to Albert Pujols. Thy will be done, baby!!!!!

Garthia may be starting there before the season is over. Harrington looked awful. I bet he underthrew receivers on 10 yard out patterns at least 4 times.

The Rams looked like they were in mid-season form and the Lions looked like they were in pre-season form. I held my breath when Wilkens went down, but was relieved when he kicked later in the game.

No Tivo and the wife refused to tape a 3 hour football game if she had to watch the kid.

Offense looked good. Line still a little shaky but better.

Jackson will have a big year if he can remain healthy. They left him in too long. Hopefully, he just gets a few snaps next week. WRs all looked good again. Bulger looked sharper.

Defense looked better and got some pressure with the blitz...but Detroit was so bad many times they just stopped themselves. AA got punked by Jones.

Terry Fair got hurt pretty badly. Anyone got more news on him? Even if he is 'ok' I have my doubts about his playing this season and that will hurt the return game.

Torry Holt's idiot brother almost tore Wilkins leg loff going offsides on a attempted kick block but looks like he is ok.

Good Lord, I wish the Rams would get SOMEONE to return kicks. McDonald runs East/West instead of North/South and no one on the team has breakaway speed and experience returning kicks.

That is a fantastic recap. Does this guy do that for every game? I'd like to read that after every Rams game. Thanks Han.

I find it rather amusing that when the Rams lose they simply suck ass and Martz needs to be fired and Marmie is an idiot. Yet when they win, the other team sucks and the Rams were just fortunate to play such a pathetic team.

I, for one, don't think the Lions are nearly as bad a team as some in this thread seem to believe. Yes, Harrington is inconsistent and may never be a good QB, but Kevin Jones is the real deal and the Rams D basically shut him down. Give some credit to the D for finally showing some promise. And this was a road game too. Granted, you can't take too much from a preseason game, but the fact that the next to last preseason game is traditionally the time when the real first team plays a whole half (if not more) and many of the formations that will be used in the regular season are used. I was impressed. Above all, I don't think the only reason we dominated was because the Lions are pathetic.

That drives me friggin' nuts. Will turn around and run backwards, then toward the sidelines - covering 30+ yards and gaining maybe 5. He does this on his receiver's routes, too, unless he's asked to do a quick out.

I liked Terry Fair on KR in week one. Hopefully he'll be healthy enough to contribute during the regular season. I think he's the best option right now.

Color some of us as 'skeptical'...it was pre-season and that takes away from how seriously to take the performane and Harrington was missing OPEN WRs.

                            Did you even watch it?

They are probably neither as bad as they looked vs SD and not as good as they looked last night.

They call Missouri the Show-Me state for nothing parder.
