Wow, first Hutchinson gets tossed in favor of Ohrton and now this. We Bears fans just had a great weekend!

Hutch needs to go pump gas in Arkansas or something. Dude is crosseyed, looks like he was kicked by a mule...

        Let's not go nuts.

Benson won't be ready to contribue in any meaningful fashion until probably after their bye-week (week 4, I think). I'm glad he's signed, but he'll be heartily booed at the game this Thursdayj, and I will be participating. Not in a 'we hate you' sense - if he plays well that will turn around - but because of all this crap with the holdout.

As for Orten, I've really liked what I've seen from him so far. We'll just have to see if he can be consistant. And it's not like he has to be consistantly good - just average - the Bears defense will take care of the rest. My step dad knows all about Orten (apparantly, he was a Nebraska kid, and my step dad grew up there, and follows all things Nebraska-football related, even the kids who don't go there) and idolized Berringer, or whoever was the guy killed in a plane crash. He thinks Orten could be a very good QB - not necessarily this year, though.

It could be worse, and the resident Bears fans will crucify me for bringin' it up, but I hope it isn't anything like the Tony Banks/Larry Phillips rookie years in '96.

I have a friend who follows college football much more than me say he thinks Benson will be as bad as Curtis Enis.
