  • How About A Bullpen Start?

    Since the bullpen is completely rested, thanks to Marquis' relief of Mulder, why not start Thompson, try to get 3-4 innings, then Eldred, etc. Mulder moves to Monday- Night!- and the staff gets an extra day of rest. Why not?

          ++

          5 pitchers combine for a 4 hit shutout. 137 pitches.

          RBI were supplied by Taguchi, Nunez, Molina and JRodd.

          2 steals by Molina.

          Classic day at the old ballyard.
          But wait. There is something that can be done afterall. My good friend Angelo is a cop in the Tampa/Clearwater area. Since I kept all of the files from the access logs when I had the power to see them, guess what, I have everyone's IP addresses. Hmm..what can I do w/ those??

            Thompson gets the win---partly because of the three good innings by Eldred. Eldred's era goes lower partly because of Thompson not letting the two runners on when he relieved come around to score.

            If Suppan and Marquis go to post season----then Thompson (probably not Eldred) would be the odd man out.

            Pretty good pitching staff.

              At times JRod has seemed to struggle trying to make an over the top play. The hard, late slide at second to break up the double play and open up the inning was fantastic--executed perfectly. I wonder if the plan is him in right and So in left for next year. JJ.

                This was my favorite game of the year -

                Bullpen going - going to need every run we can get.

                Albert tossed in the first inning.

                Lose Jimmy on the double steal and still win with a shut out and excellent defense.

                Somewhere when we are all gone -

                Some future man will find this game under the definition of Cardinal baseball and wish he has here at the time.

                    Thanks, Devaskar. It seemed like something they could get away with against Washington.

                      Mine as well. It's even better that someone here called it first. It was the right team and the right park to pull it off. Of course I only recognize that in hindsight, but that doesn't matter. JJ.
