The St. Louis Cardinals will get their first look at Zach Duke, the left-hander who won National League Rookie of the Month in July after being recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis on July 2.
Duke is 6-0 and coming off throwing seven shutout innings in a 5-0 victory against the New York Mets. He has not allowed an earned run in five of his last eight starts.
The Cards will counter with Jason Marquis, a right-hander who has lost his previous six starts. Marquis, who has not won since July 16, is 1-9 since beginning the season 8-3.
His ERA has gone up from 3.27 to 4.36 in that time. In 11 innings over two starts against the Pirates this season, Marquis has allowed four runs on 11 hits, striking out four.
