I'm in Orlando so I'm out of the Chicago sports loop right now - need my sports radio fix...

My first question would be, is this effective immeadiately or is this just what they are planning on doing upon the last day of the season. I thought the re-play of the game wouldn't be until the monday after most teams' seasons were over anyway.
        Of course you do.

Man, I'd be pissed if I were the Yankees.

MLB is letting them do this?

Wow. That's just wrong for at least two reasons.

One is throwing away a game, and two is handing a free victory to a pennant race team.

            Interesting indeed.

From what I understand, the game was to be made up on Labor Day but the White Sox would have then had to play around 20 games in a row without a day off so they decided to forfeit instead.

Is this the first forfeit since the Dodgers had to forfeit a game to the Cards back in '95?

TLR would immolate himself at Busch Stadium before he allowed the Cardinals to forfeit a game.

What can MLB do? Even if they do make them play the White Sox would just put Widger and co. in the line-up and it would be effectively the same thing.
                    Of course you do.
