Report: Ricky could face fine for lost playbook
Miami Dolphins running back Ricky Williams could by fined by the team for leaving his playbook in his room at the team hotel after he and the rest of the team departed for their preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to a report in The Miami Herald.
Williams apparently realized he didn't have his playbook after checking out of the team hotel after an overnight stay Friday. According to the Herald, he told club officials he didn't have it, and they dispatched two officers Allegheny County Sheriff's Office.
A sheriff's department source told the Herald the playbook was found and returned to the Dolphins.
Under the terms of the current collective bargaining agreement, Williams and other players who lose their playbooks are subject to a fine of no more than $5,000.
Williams was not available for comment, and coach Nick Saban is not scheduled to address the media until 5 p.m. ET.
Despite the foul-up, Williams started his first game of the preseason vs. the Steelers Saturday night and gained nine yards on five carries. He remains the Dolphins top rusher this preseason with 56 yards on 16 carries.
