A kid from Vista, California just recorded all 18 outs in the game via K, the second time in LLWS history it's been done. The kid was throwing about 74-75MPH, which would be in the high 90s from a major league mound.

Dante Bichette's kid is a power hitter for the Maitland, Fl. team. They're on at 7 CST.

This should not be on TV. There's something wrong about a contest for sixth and seventh-graders being given the grand TV treatment.

There's a kid up in Florissant - plays up at FAAA, and he throws that hard (he's 12 too). I don't know much about him cause he plays Khory league, not CYC. The team that D wants to try out for, that's what they are throwing. (the same team that Matheny's son is on).

I don't see anything wrong with it. I always thought it was a huge thrill whenever I had a game in TV. It was pretty special, actually.

I'll be watching quite a bit of it, and no, there's nothing wrong with it. Leave it to the childless to decide what's good for other people's kids.

Why expose kids to this kind of fame so early?

I'm on the fence...as a proud parent, or even a kid...hell yes you want it on TV...

The flip side is...does it contribute to the arrognace of athletes at an even earlier age? And does it raise expectations for a kid who may be ahead of his peers physiologically at 12 or 13...and who may fall back to the pack at 15 or 16?

I say give them their memories...however, I hope these kids have an authoritative figure looking out for them...

Because there's no way agents, sad as it is, aren't watching this in earnest...

Yup. I came around to this view last year, when ESPN showed seventh-graders showboating and doing the Sosa hop.

It's not the end of civilization or anything, but the LLWS would probably be better served by going back to the more quiet event it used to be.
