  • Seriously, the Royals suck

Trailing Seattle 6-1. Losers of fifteen consecutive games. The all-time record is 23 games in a row by the 1961 Phillies. (At least I think it is, am unable to find a comprehensive list.)

Really, 16 losses in a row. That's bad.

Is Allard Baird the worst front-office guy in modern baseball history?

This is a directionless, rudderless mess.
    I like cheese.

Somehow, I completely missed this streak. They mentioned on PTI last night that the Royals had lost 15 in a row and thought, "wha?"

Truly wretched. And yes, Baird is the worst, unless you enjoy trading away your good players at the deadline in exchange for feces.

Me too, just heard this today. I was all "shit, really?". Fifteen games in a row is quite amazingly bad. They have two more games coming up against Seattle and then a weekend series against Oakland--look for a lot more media attention if the streak gets up to 18 or 19.

David DeJesus wouldn't look bad wearing the Birds on the Bat .

How long has Baird been GM? It seems like he's been there for close to 10 years.

The thing that's stupid about it is they aren't that bad. They have some excellent young pitcher and several fielders who will be stars one day (such as DeJesus). They make the stupidest mistakes. And it seems like every mistake they make results in a loss. Jose Lima was supposed to be a leader this year, but until recently, he flat out stunk. Now that he's coming around, the team is so demoralized that he loses a 1-0 complete game.

They have several players who have no business in the majors yet. Teahan, Buck and Ambres would be in the minors for any other team in baseball.

But only Sweeney is batting .300. DeJesus, Berroa and Brown aren't horrible, but that's about all they have offensively.

There were people around here that were PISSED when the Sox traded Ambres for Graffanino. Strangely, those folks are quiet now.

There's a big similarity between the Blues and the Royals. Neither can develop a plan and stay the course. At least it looks like the Royals have finally committed to building through the draft. It worked (to a degree) for the Twins. It can work for the Royals. If all of the pieces come together at the right time, they will be pretty good in 4 years or so.

The biggest risk they are taking is playing guys who clearly aren't ready for the majors. They could destroy Grienke, Burgos and Sisco. That would be a real shame.

                        17 in a row!

Someone named "Yuniesky Betancourt" singled home Jeremy Reed in the bottom of the 8th inning, and Seattle beat KC 4-3.
