I'm voting for the man that I most look like.
If you believe in something sacrifice a hobo to it or don't bother.

Gotta go w/ Buddy and the Crickets...

Plus, he is the only thing to ever come out of Lubbock, Texas...

I'm holding out my vote on all of these tonight in case I carry the swing vote. If that's the case I'm selling it to Wang for one of those handjobs.

Soundgarden over Buddy Holly...that'll be the day.
            I agree with Davhaf.....Kaiser March 9,2004

Mick Jagger is in better shape than far too many NBA players. It's up in the air whether the same can be said of Keith Richards.

In terms of the ratio of influence to the time actually spent producing work (less than two years), he's probably the all-time champ.

Anyone been to the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa? I have.

Actually, what are we voting on, influence or body of work?

Who here that voted for Buddy Holly sits around listening to the few albums he recorded while he was alive?

You don't listen to the actual albums (I think there were only two; maybe even one); you listen to compilations, etc. He had a ton of stuff that was never released in his lifetime.

I guess. But my point is if it's by influence then why not just put Buddy Holly and Elvis in the finals and end the rest of the tournament?

I highly doubt the 25 or so people that voted for Buddy Holly listen to his music even once a year.

They may just hate Soundgarden, who knows.

Well, I didn't say the standard of the voting was influence; just commenting that his very short time in the business produced an incredible influence.

I would suspect that's why most people are voting for him. I'm not picking on you per se.

I'd rather listen to Black Hole Sun than Peggy Sue, for starters.

I don't expect Charles Hardin Holley to go far in this competition, but I suspect it'll take a band with a little more substance to knock him off. Dead legends can be hard to beat.
