  • Lent. What did you give up?

I suspect there will be a variety of creative responses to this :-)

However, it's a meaningfull subject to a 'closet Catholic' like me. I gave up meat. (Have your easy humor fun juvenile boys).

But I'm about to leave again for a month over to Sweet Home England and it will be the HARDEST part of the Lent commitment because the sausages, steak and kidney pies, the curries, the (well I'm torturing myself).

So, it's a week of pure denial.

    Will I make it?

    Of course.

But the fish and chip shop near my local will have memorized my credit card number by then.

That's tough DaLode. I gave up soda, which was brutal the first two weeks or so but I have learned to replace my caffeine withdrawals by drinking LOTS of tea. Hardest part is giving up on vanilla stoli and diet coke and Jack and Coke. Oh well, less than two weeks left.

Any and all hope of the Cubs actually winning anything this year. The SI cover is the death-knell. Prior being hurt doesn't help (his career is over, you know), but nothing can stand against the mighty cover curse.

(The entire above post was in jest. You wanted a creative response - you got it!)

I gave up giving a shit about Lent, what people gave up for Lent and why the "Catholic" Church is the most hypocritical organisation in the world..

            But, that's just me...

My little one gave up candy. Somehow, in her mind, that doesn't include chocolate.

I may leave the firm to her. She's qualified.

I gave up any and all liquor. Of course I gave that up 15 years ago, so I think I'll be able to make it this year.

I would never let a religion dictate to me what I can or cannot have, eat, drink, see, do , etc. You are brainwashed!
