The best thing about Kitchen is the lack of ice time Finley and Salvador have been getting.

I think if MacInnis and Jackman would have been healthy then I think Salvador or Walker would have been gone to make room for Backman. Also, in dealing Salvador or Walker along with other crap we could have gotten something better than Brian Savage.

On the broadcast this evening, Oh Baby and Federko were speculating that, without the season ending injuries to MacInnis and Jackman, Backman would have been stuck in the "A" all season. They said he would have been an American League all-star.

I find it hard to believe he wouldn't have been given a chance in the NHL over players like Finley, Salvador, etc. Not saying he would be logging the minutes he currently is, but I can't believe he wouldn't have been given every opportunity to prove himself at this level.

              Agree?

I think there's some truth to it....

these guys simply don't trust their prospects sometimes....

Correction: they don't trust the 'right' prospects (see Sejna, Peter and Walker, Matt)....Backman has/had the talent, it was just a question if they trusted him getting the job done and I don't think they would've if those guys were healthy....

Besides, Salvador and Walker are two tough guys to replace....
