If you install Spybot, there is an option to lock your homepage. You could either do that, or stop looking at porn.
If you believe in something sacrifice a hobo to it or don't bother.

Spybot like Turd said will help. But don't ever hit 'OK' on the pop up boxes on obscure websites. It basically will give them permission to change stuff, like your hompage, if they choose too. It's just a basic javascript.

Zone Labs has a good, free firewall for use.

Also, which browser are you using? Many of them have different security settings that prohibit things like that from happening.

                  Microsoft Internet Explorer -

                  Should I switch.
Your call. Everything works with IE. If you get into some of the ohter browsers, you'll have to do some plug-in management to get everything to work right. I really like the new Netscape. It's got the tabbed browsing and pop-up blocker. It comes with most plug-ins pre installed, and is pretty quick to load and serve pages. The only files I cannot play within Netscape are the Windows Media Files(.wmv). I just download them and play them outside the browser.

pgrote will come along shortly and tell you about some more obscure browsers, which are good too, but I've found they take a bit more work to get them up to speed with all the plug-ins and settings. I do like Firebird though.

                    Not necessarily.

You should download and install the Google Toolbar at http://toolbar.google.com.

You should also set your security settings inside your browser to a notch higher than they are right now.
