  • Devil Rays in first place, Yanks in last!

TOKYO (AP) -- On the other side of the world, these New York Yankees looked lost.

Jose Cruz Jr. hit a tying home run that sparked a comeback, Tino Martinez helped beat his former team with his 300th career homer and the lowly Tampa Bay Devil Rays roughed up Mike Mussina in defeating the Yankees 8-3 Tuesday night.

"Hopefully, it's 5 a.m. and not many people were watching," Alex Rodriguez said, thinking of when the game began, New York time.

The team that dominates the AL East couldn't do much in the Far East, getting outhit 15-7 and playing sluggishly in the field.

Who has Hall in the free league? Oh wait it's me. Brilliant selection.

Just looking at the box score, I saw that Kenny Lofton hit ninth for the Yankees. I can't imagine he's very happy about that. If the Yankees ever are forced to trade him and pick up part of his salary, the Cardinals should be after him.

Do you think Tino apologized to all his buddies on the Yankees for helping to beat them? I'm sure he felt turrrrrrible.

Tino's clubhouse leadership is already paying off, isn't it?

it was his intangibles that allowed him to get around on the homer. if people would just let his intangibles shine through, he woulda done that more often last year
