  • Some of my favorite W quotes.

Before September the 11th, many in the world believed that Saddam Hussein could be contained. But chemical agents, lethal viruses and shadowy terrorist networks are not easily contained. Imagine those 19 hijackers with other weapons and other plans -- this time armed by Saddam Hussein.
-- Well, they'd have to come back from the dead for starters, so you really would have to imagine pretty hard, but more importantly, how is September 11 supposed to have changed the world's view of Saddam Hussein when he didn't have anything to do with it? State of the Union Address, Jan. 28, 2003

When we were kids, a lot of us were kids, growing up, oceans separated us from danger.
-- Charting new verbal territory on his "America protected by (or in this case, Americans separated by) oceans" theme, East Literature Magnet School, Nashville, Tennessee, Sep. 17, 2002

I think war is a dangerous place.
    -- Washington, D.C., May 7, 2003

There's an old saying in Tennessee -- I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee -- that says, fool me once -- shame on -- shame on you. You fool me, you can't get fooled again.
-- Dubya attempting to co-opt Texas and Tennessee into his verbal wreckage. The saying he was trying to dredge up was "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." Even better, Dubya was speaking at a literature magnet school. I'm sure it was a learning experience for the kids. East Literature Magnet School, Nashville, Tennessee, Sep. 17, 2002

And the time is getting worse. That's what people have got to understand up there in Washington or over there in Washington down there in Washington, whatever. Thought I was in Crawford for a minute.
-- It always seems like you're in Crawford, Dubya
    Scranton, Pennsylvania, Jan. 16, 2003

I want to thank the astronauts who are with us, the courageous spacial entrepreneurs who set such a wonderful example for the young of our country.
-- Dubya making a strong case for sticking to the script, Washington, D.C., Jan. 14, 2004

I bring up -- I bring up a preacher because I want to thank all the preachers who are here, the pastors, those who shepherd. One pastor who is not here is my friend Jack Graham from Prestonwood Baptist. I bring that up because social entrepreneurs find out ways to leverage resources in a proper way. And what Tony Evans has done with Pastor Jack Graham, is to start an urban suburban and partnership.
-- Another mental detour in Dallas, Texas, Oct. 29, 2003

Oh, I've found a million of these. Ladies and Gentlemen, your President. B)
    "They misunderestimated me."

"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."—Washington, D.C., Aug. 5, 2004

"If you're sick and tired of the politics of cynicism and polls and principles, come and join this campaign."

      Did he actually say that?

I remember the SNL skit, don't remember W actually saying it though.

If you honestly believe that this guy is just a bad public speaker and not a moron than no one will ever be able to convince you otherwise. He is either an idiot, or pretending to be one which makes him a liar. Either way, he needs to go.

He's inarticulate when making speeches, yeah.

But he's not the Peter Sellers character he's made out to be.

Watch him operate in a small, casual setting. He's almost Clinton-esque.

I don't know, they didn't call him "Slick Willie" for nothing. Is dubya getting any "intern" action in the White House? He has a long way to go to catch up to Willie.

He's either an complete idiot or he does it on purpose to seem more like the "average american." The president has a staff of speach writters and several more people telling him what to say and how to say it to get the most effect out of each and every speech. So he either is a complete idiot who can't read off a teleprompter and can't remember what his staffers tell him, or he's putting on a show and acting like an idiot so the average joe in backwoods Alabama (no offense to any Alabamians intended) can relate to him.

Either way it's not a trait I necessarily want to see out of the leader of the free world.

                          Are you guys serious.

He may not be the best public speaker, and maybe not the most articulate.

He has probobaly made 300 speeches a year, for 15 years, in front of billions of people.

and you got what, like 7 quotes.

He doesn't typically make these mistakes in planned speeches. He does it when he's speaking off the cuff.

While it's preferrable to have a President that is more articulate, I've come to believe this weakness is does not mean he's an idiot. Some people just have trouble putting their thoughts into words quickly.
