  • Dirt off your shoulder? JayZ

What does it mean? I like the beat and song, but have no idea what he's talking about.

    Can someone explain?

I don't know but perhaps it's how he moved up about 7 rankings to get Beyonce. It's the alomst the equivalent of Lyle Lovett getting Julia Roberts.

While I appreciate the effort, it's driving me nuts.

Have you seen this Melissa Etheridge video "Breathe" ? It features long-time Jeff City football coach and legend Pete Adkins. And I don't know why.

I'm pretty sure it means exactly what he says.

I've seen Rappers/Athletes do the motion for a while now (Marshall's done it a few times).

          Also....Jay-Z is the man.

              They are both great.

If you're into rap I'd recommend the Kayne West cd, it's awesome.

So it's not a metaphor or slang for something?

As a 56 year old male that grew up on Rock and Roll, I barely call MOST rap, music. I would have been a multi-millionaire if I had recorded some of the bitch sessions we had in Nam and called them rap..More cussing than you can imagine.

                      Right.

I looked at that earlier and couldn't discern his meaning. Is it like popping on your chest after you make a shot?

                            My opinion,

The dirt represents your enemies, your doubters, those that give you negative press. Brush the dirt of your shoulders shows how easy they are overcome - with a little flick. The haters couldn't stop him no matter how they tried - he still rose from the botton to the top and is now a star.

It is not the same as hitting your chest after making a shot - which means I have too much heart to be stopped.
Turning the other cheek is better than burying the other body.

God is stronger and the problem knows it.
