One of the most haunting things I've ever seen. Wow."Listen, strange women lyin' in ponds distributin' swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony. "

I mean waht actually happened?
Radiation leaks out. Well, more like explodes out.
Soviets decide to relocate entire town.
They quarantine the area.
They didn't disappear, but we're moved out.
The History Channel had a show about it. Sort of freaky. One day you're living your life, you go to bed and the next morning you are being bused out without any of your belongings and no explanation.

Gup,
Minor nit to pick.
3500 stayed in the area against the advice of authorities.
300-400 of them still alive.
My kids are from the Ukraine. And, frankly, it has never occured to me that "winning" a debate is important, or that I should be hurt when someone like Airshark or kah, among others (for whom winning a pseudo debate or declaring intellectual superiority over invisible others is obviously very important) ridicule me.

I bet that hanging laundry is pretty sun-drenched by now. And, frankly, it has never occured to me that "winning" a debate is important, or that I should be hurt when someone like Airshark or kah, among others (for whom winning a pseudo debate or declaring intellectual superiority over invisible others is obviously very important) ridicule me.

I remember the world news that day, but having no idea or understand the magnatude of what had happened. I was more concerned with work, and who I was drinking with that upcoming weekend.
Wow...amazing.
Great site, thanks for sharing. It sucks that she didn't leave an address book or something like that.
Helps to remind you to reflect on what you do have now...and to appriciate it. Well it did for me anyway.
For anyone that hasn't clicked on that link by now, I recommend you to do so (I wasn't going to, but I'm glad that I did), even if you don't know anything about what happened. It brings an entire new persepective on the events, and what those people went through at the time, and the area today.Feb. 08, 2005
