  • Lankford's Reception

What do you think the reaction will be to Lankford when the parade starts?

Smattering of applause, standing O, boos?

I'm guessing there will be a few foxhound head-tilts when some people here his name.

He will receiving a standing "O". NO doubt. (IMO)

There will be a few boo birds, but Lankford was a staple of this town/team for many years. Active in the community.

He should, and will be warmly received.

Of course, we need him more than ever now.

I think Ray will get a very warm reception.

I was at Busch when he made his first start after being traded to San Diego. I'd say close to 50% of those in attendence stood on thier feet, when he came to bat.

I'd cheer for him, too. He was on some truly dreadful teams, and was a very good player.

He is getting a standing O. The guy gave us a lot of good years.

Some of the years he was by far the best player on the team.

I am hopeful he can give us one more.

I wouldn't expect to hear many, if any, boos.

I would expect a standing ovation.

It makes one wonder in Joe Torre had the ownership group in place that Tony has had, if we'd possibly be looking at Ray as one of the Cardinal legends...

I don't think Ray and Tony were on the same wavelength for most of their initial partnership.

I doubt it. Ray was a very good player, but he's not transcendent.

I hope to hell he's regained form, but it's hard to get it back at this late date. Liek somebody said, we need him to come through (fuckin' Walt).

I saw them lose to the Cubs in '94 to fall in last place, and the only two people who gave a damn were Ray and Jeffries.

I vote for the standing O. Rays' had a great spring and gave the club some pretty good years.

I wish him all the best.

I'm gonna vote for a standing ovation as well, because of the whole homecoming aspect of the game. Also because I've yet to hear Cards fans boo anyone but the umpires.

They booed Tino after cheering him for a long time. Then Tino complained about it, after initially complaining about how the fans weren't tough enough on him (like they are in the Bronx).
