  • GO Salukis!!!!

My youngest son who's a freshman at SIU-Carbondale, was able to get a couple of extra tickets for last night's midnigh extravagansa. The SIU arena was sold out and very electric. Hawaii hung close. Although, I do think that the Saluki kid's were out of the element having to play a game at 11:00PM. But, if that's what it takes to get more national recognition, then so be it.

PS: ATTN Post Dispatch and KMOX. When will you realize that the Salukis are on a par with SLU, Mizzou, and Illinois?

On par? When did SIU lose to Belmont? They are the best team in the area. Lack of big men concerns me, as does Brooks free throw shooting but they should be a 5-6 seed in the tourney.

      I agree.

It's just that the PD and KMOX seem to only recognize the other three schools as legitimate...

I think it's going to take SIU beating SLU, Mizzou, and U of I to get a mention -- and it would only be in the context of "SLU got it handed to them by Southern Illinois University...."

I was there also and all I can say is wow that place was electric. As far as the disrespect goes...who cares. Even though SIU's should be 5 or 6 seed, the best part about going to their games is they're one of the hardest working team's I've ever seen. They are tenacious defenders and even if they weren't good enough to be desearving of natlional attention, they'd still be one heck an exciting team to watch. So for all the STL media who ignores them, they're the ones missing out not the other way around.

I was there also. Did you see me? I was the one in maroon! I love to watch this TEAM play. they are in your face from tip to horn. They dodn't seem to get to rattled, they play the last three minutes as they do the first three. Impressive. B)

Hawaii ran some nice set half court plays.

Great game, but very very very sloppy.

I can only assume that it was due to the late start.

No big men will catch up with SIU come March.

If they are a 5 or 6, they will be going on in round 2.

They will run into someone with a big man and just tear them up.
