I admit it, when I draft, I take a look at spring stats.
Thought I'd share some things that have caught my eye.
Jose Contreras, NYY, sp - was awesome toward the latter part of last year - this spring, he has 23 Ks in 14.2 IP and has only given up 10 hits.
Esteban German, OAK, 2b - who? This guy was slated to be a reserve for OAK. He has been stuck behind some solid MIs. But now, Mark Ellis is out and this kid is hitting well in spring and he runs like the wind.
Bobby Crosby, OAK, ss - this is the rookie that the A's let Tejada go for. He had 20+ HR and 20+ SBs last year in the minors. He is tearing it up this spring, hitting .349 in 43 ABs.
Rich Harden, OAK, sp - struggling mightily this spring.
Roger Clemens, HOU, sp - given up 19 H in 14 IP yet has 13 K and just a 1.93 ERA. Supposedly his velocity is down.
Carlos Beltran, KC, of - wow. Hitting .487 with a .897 SLG% in 39 ABs.
Ray Lankford, Kerry Robinson, STL, of - both have 4 SBs in the spring. Normally these guys don't run ... unless they are trying to make the club.
Troy Glaus, ANA, 3b - coming off a down year in which he hurt his rotator cuff but hitting .350 with 3 HRs in the spring.
Jose Guillen, ANA, of - this dude came out of nowhere last year and has SIX HRs already this spring.
But by far my favorite update:
Donovan Osborne, NYY, sp - this pu$$y leads the majors in spring training wins with 4. CLASSIC!
