  • The Official Cardinals Prediction Thread

This is the place to make your crazy Cardinal predictions for the upcoming season.

I figure since the season is like only a week away, we need to have something to laugh at, whatever happens comes the end of the season.

They finish 3rd. I don't think Walt's offseason was dreadful. Unfortunately that won't cut it.

Greg Vaughn makes the team and there is an assassination attempt soon after by a mysterious women.

TLR goes, goes, goes. We can live in hope can't we?

I think they'll finish 2nd in the Central but still miss the playoffs. Only THEN is TLR fired.

But wait. There is something that can be done afterall. My good friend Angelo is a cop in the Tampa/Clearwater area. Since I kept all of the files from the access logs when I had the power to see them, guess what, I have everyone's IP addresses. Hmm..what can I do w/ those??

I am still going with the Phillies, Astros, and Padres as the three NL division winners, with the Cubs getting the Wild Card.

Cardinals finish third, Tony Womack compiles a massive .280 OBP as the leadoff man, Tony LaRussa brings Greg Vaughn north, saying, "Alot of people are afraid of Greg Vaughn", which is what he said about Bonilla when we signed him before the 2001 season.

Either Izzy, Morris, or Woody goes on the DL for an extended amount of time, so does Edmonds. As the Cards struggle through the season, TLR and Edmonds have a feud about something or another, and the team tries to deal Jim-Ed by the trade deadline, but find no takers due mostly to his contract.

Pujols has a great year, but drives in only 110 runs, as the hitters in front of him dont get on base much - even with TLR going with his brilliant plan of hitting the pitcher 8th in order to get an "extra lead-off man in there".

Cards end up winning 84 games, and TLR is gone - finally.
“I’ve always stated, ‘I’m a Missouri Tiger,’” Anderson said March 13 after Arkansas fired John Pelphrey, adding, “I’m excited about what’s taking place here.”

Asked then if he would talk to his players about the situation, he said, “They know me, and that’s where the trust comes in.

Depressingly though, you could hear TLR saying that.

How can Tony be fired if this is the last year of his contract?

                    85-77
                    3rd in the central
I just hope that's not enough for them to torture us with another year of LaRussa...
. . . and to tell you this: I work with gays, have friends who are gay, go to church with gays. Most of them are aware that I believe that homosexual behavior is sin. Some of them actually agree. Most don't. It's OK . . . because they also know or at least have been made aware of my multitude of sins: adulterous heart, lustful and covetous behavior, wicked pride, angry spirit . . . do I need to go on?

Astros win Central, Cards are second at 88-74, Cubs don't finish the season.

Seriously, we're better than the Cubs.

It wouldn't surprise me if Albert came down to earth. Williams won't finish the season. We'll find enough SP to keep us in games, and the bullpen will be pretty good. Offense will be similar to last year. Tony will be Tony. We'll still lose in the end.

But please, people, get off the Cubs bandwagon. Wood is not Roger Clemens. Prior will get injured. Zambrano will be ordinary. Maddux might still have some moxie, but he's not going to be winning 3-2 games in the eighth inning. Matt Clement might actually have a "breakout" season, relatively speaking.

I still don't expect much. They're the Cubs.

To me, the key is Prior. If he duplicates last season then yeah, the Cubs might lose in Game 7 of the NLCS. But if he gets hurt or otherwise scuffles, the Cubs will be struggling for 90 wins.

In the interest of optimism, I'm picking them to finish second and win 86 games.

Woody will get injured, Pujols will have another monster year, and -- I'm going out on a limb here -- Scott Rolen will hit .278 with 28 HR and 90 RBI.
I also see a DL assignment for Izzy.

They'll miss the playoffs, then there will be a new era in Cardinals baseball. Like him or hate, I think we can all agree this is it for TLR.
His mind is not for rent, to any god or government.
Pointless debate is what we do here -- lvr

people........the Astros are not gonna win the division. Milkshakes around if they do.

Roger Clemens and Andy Pettite are not gonna be the team saviors like every one thinks. remember what park they play half their games in.

Pettite isn't exactly lights out to begin with. he's an awesome guy to have for the playoffs, but the regular season is a different story. he had a 4.02 ERA last year, and gave up 21 dingers. 21 dingers....pre-Juice Box. do i smell 30 this year?

same for clemens. he gave up 24 homers last year.

plus, the stros bullpen lost a lot when wagner left. and bagwell and biggio got a year older.

I say Cubs win the division, Cards finish second, Stros 3rd.

                          Cards win 86 games.
