  • Can the Cubs really get away with this?

As first reported in the Chicago Sun-Times on Sunday, the Chicago Cubs have hired Broadway-caliber lighting and scenery experts to help them block the ballpark view of the one rooftop club refusing to share its profits with the team.

They get away with running their own ticket brokerage and reselling tickets for 10 times face value, so why not. They have every single competitive advantage and they still suck. What a shame

      Very Onion-like article.

On a serious note though, I think it's bullshit. They already hold back tickets, then "sell" them to company owned by their parent company. That company then sells them for over face value. If I were a cubbie fan in Chi-town, I'd be pissed as fuck.

kinda ignorant, but I imagine the have every right (zoning restrictions may factor in) to build whatever they want on their property.

Cub’s fans should just boycott Wrigley for the first week until they take it down.

Why should a guy who is fortunate enough to own a building that happens to be next to Wrigley get to profit from someone else's product? I don't see a problem with what the Cubs are doing.

Oh yeah, the Cubs still suck.

              Its perfectly legal.

No different than building a wall in the outfield that is 50 feet high.

There is no problem doing that at all, but then again they can just build the buildings bigger (if the codes allow it there).

Another 10 more years of nothingness in terms of banners and they will scrap that dump and build a retractable dome on the Lake.

Then the only roof tops they will worry about are the ones that the fans are leaping off of.

Don't the Cubs sell out all their games anyway?

They sell out of beer by the 3rd inning.

Most. That's why they created the shell ticket broker company -- to get more than face value for the tickets.
