  • The Sopranos Thread

I know, it's not politics or college sports, but I saw the Deadwood thread and thought this certainly deserved its own space.

Right... I like this season so far. Paulie hitting that guy in the head with the shovel and dropping the other guy our of the tree was priceless.

    Predictions...

-- The Adrianna/FBI things gets exposed, soon... Christopher has to take a side.

-- Tony has Johnny Sack whacked to solidfy his position with little Carmine, who takes over that NY family.

-- Furio shows up out of nowhere (I hope).

    -- Paulies gets whacked.

I know I'm new here, but where I come from people back up statements like that with some facts... care to elaborate?

If broadcast television weren't in the grip of bluenose censors that shit themselves with outrage when a random boob is flashed on TV during the Super Bowl, shows like "The Sopranos" could be broadcast to a wider audience. Unfortunately, all of broadcast TV must be rendered pasteurized for nine-year-olds, so shows for adults like "The Sopranos" have to be stuck in a niche like HBO.

I'm going to guess, and this is with no knowledge whatsoever, that Christopher kills Adriana this season.

I think the Sopranos is a great show . However, I can't help but watch it and not think about how much shows or movies of this genre owe to "Pulp Fiction". Think about how many movies and series since Pulp have shown the mobster/ganster as a regular guy with a sense of Humor. As great as "The Godfather" was, you never heard Michael being funny. As for predictions, Little Carmine and Adrianna will be whacked by the end of the season. Tony will end up banging Little Carmine's wife.

Pulp Fiction doesn't even compare to the first two The Godfather movies.

I'm not saying it does, I'm just saying it has spawned numerous imitations on both television and the movies.

i still have a feeling christopher is gonna get whacked. seems like he gets a lot more chances than anyone else. hell, since this is the last season, why not knock everyone off except a few people and have those people sent to a federal pound me in the ass prison or committ suicide!!! that way you won't be hearing about a possible movie.

The Sopranos will be coming back for one more season after this one, although the last season is supposed to be a little shorter (10 episodes vs. 13).

I like: the writing; the performances; the characters; the humor; the attention to the small, revealing details that make it seem like you're getting a glimpse of actual events unfolding. It's an intelligent, subtle show that demonstrates a firm understanding of dramatic pacing and emotional engagement with the audience. It's well-written and perfectly cast.
The music was pretty good from the few episodes I saw a couple years ago.
