  • I'm Convinced -- Vaughn Will Head North

After the evidence I've heard and read this weekend, I am now convinced Greg Vaughn is going to make the club.

I think the guy is washed up, but I'm virtually sure he's going to take Perez's spot as the "power RH" guy off the bench.

Lankford will be starting LF and leadoff hitter.

Bo Hart opening day 2b and number 8 hitter.

    Here's my prediction:

    Lankford LF
    Sanders RF
    Pujols 1b
    Edmonds CF
    Rolen 3b
    Renteria SS
    Matheny C
    Hart 2b
    Pitcher

    Bench:
-- Robinson, Vaughn, Widger, McKay, Anderson.

    Rotation:

    Morris
    Carpenter
    Williams
    Suppan
    Marquis

    Pen:
-- Tavarez, Lincoln, King, Kline, Simo, Eldred, Izzy.

    DL:
    -- Alan Benes.

    AAA:
    -- Haren, Kiko, Luna.

***Disclaimer: This is not necessarily what I want the club to head north with, but this is my prediction based on all available evidence.

If Vaughn makes it and Emil Brown does not, then I am joining the Faction again.

    That is my prediction.

      I am with you Cg.

I want Brown on this club. He can do more than Vaughn ever dreams of.

If TLR keeps a guy like Vaughn, he needs to be let go.

Emil has done a good job of getting on base through walks and hits so far.

Vaughn has done a good job of looking like he's never held a bat before in his life.

But Vaughn is good in the clubhouse and that counts for a lot. Baseball is a popularity contest, you know.

My prediction: LaRussa will be fired by All-Star break.

He's going to be gone after this year, anyway, and owners will want to take attention away from success of Cubs and Astros and what I believe will be downward spiral of Cards. (Will gladly eat crow if this doesn't occur).

Get ready for Interim Manager Jose Oquendo.

we won´t give up much for Luna. At least we shouldnt´.

I predict Kerry Robinson will be our leadoff hitter, that is until Tony Womack can take over (who hoo). I think we should give Kerry his chance to prove what he can do. Hell, what better options do we have in all honesty?

They won't have the guts to fire him. They'll just let him go after the season. They can't fire their friend.

                      Cards Quick Hits: March 21

                      03/21/2004

Mike Matheny was two for three with a run batted in. Matheny is eight for his last 15.

                      * * *

Steve Kline pitched a scoreless inning of relief. Kline has not allowed a hit in his last four appearances, covering 3 2/3 innings.

                      * * *

Greg Vaughn went 0 for three and is in the throes of a 0-for-21 skid.
I was playing on STL today and found this. And he hasn't been cut yet.

When's his next chance to be gone from this team? I won't give up hope. I can't.

If Larussa is fired, will the Faction take credit?

Who does the Faction want in the dago's place?

If Luna can't make the Indians and has been dealt twice by them, why should we keep him?

                          Winston,

I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that Vaughn does not make the team. I don't think McKay will either. There is a reason he is 30 and still in the minors.

I think Witt and So will be on the bench instead.

As for the pen, I think Kiko will take Simo's spot. I think they both still have options so that issue doesn't factor into the equation.

                          Thanks

I would be pleased if Brown were named to the bench.

I am focusing and sending the Cut Vaughn Now vibes towards Jupiter.
