Cardinals righthander Mike Lincoln fanned the side in his only inning Tuesday. Duncan said Lincoln had been bothered by a virus in a couple of his previous efforts, although Lincoln had pitched scoreless innings in those, too.

Jason Ryan, who replaced Marquis, allowed seven hits and seven runs in 2 1/3 innings. La Russa said Ryan had particular difficulty with his curveball.
How about that Mike Lincoln, eh? Bothered by a virus and he's still getting people out.

I think that if Ryan had any chance of making the team, that last outing surely snuffed it.
