  • how tough is the potato chip industry

Does Frito-lay have thugs that try to intimidate places into not carrying other brands? Two things I have come to not like about Frito-lay----they charge more per ounce of chips than anyone. The other thing, they have so many varieties of so many different kinds of chips that they cannot consistently keep them all stocked. Their kettle-cooked regulars are often not available, but there will be a huge stack of three week old jalapeno kettle cooked. I think Jays makes a better tasting chip, especially, their kettle cooked---but they don't always restock, and occasionally the quality control slips and you get stale ones, or a bunch glommed together. It must be a tough world.

All right. I come home from work in the middle of the night, I rant about Paris Hilton buying the Cardinals, I say things about Nader so far off from the conventional wisdom that not even republicans bother to humour me, and I take a shot at Fed-ex. No responses, and that seems fair. But doesn't anybody feel strongly about snacks?!

I agree...try to find plain Doritos anywhere. Not Tostitos, not all that white corn crap, not flavored Doritos, just good old plain corn Doritos...and I'll make my own nacho cheese, thank you very much, when I can find Hot Mexican Velveeta...which is unavailable also.

                    Short story.............Re: munchies

Back in my days as a Field Engineer (Old time Computer term), one of my accounts was the local Nabisco distribritors..........Well needless to say they loved me (doesn't everybody)........So every time I went there I lsft with a huge box of goodies.....I was the most popular guy in the office on those days......Many times I got samples that sales were distributing...........They came out with a fudge covered Oreo.........What a completely decadent cookie.........It was awesome and especially dangerous when you were partaking of the 'erb...........

I wonder if they still sell those.............

That's more like it. I don't eat Doritos much, but I completely understand the frustration of not being able to find the plain ones. I'm really nervous about them messing with the cheez-it recipe. White cheez-its?

Yes, technically a Type II (adult onset), but genetically Type I (insulin-dependant)...long story, but if researchers ever want to dig in to the genetics of diabetes, the distaff members of my family would be a good place to start.
