Trying to decide on a recorder, anyone have any experience with either?

    Go with Tivo.

Replay TV is a bad experience. If I had more time I would find the articles. Basically they are on life support. Court cases against them. Bait and switch tactics.

Is paying the 13 bucks a month worth having a Tivo? It bumps my 55 dollar cable bill to almost 70 bucks.

With ReplayTV you can hook it up to your HD and download the shows to your computer.

I hear there are ways of getting around the subscription price?

          Good point.

The issue is long term viability.

Replay was bought. If I remember, that company filed for bankruptcy. They were then sold to another comapny.

There are three current lawsuits against them by the industy. I don't know the status of them.

Here is what it boils down to for me.

If you're looking for a great value and increased features, go Replay TV. With the huge caveat of two things:

          1) The underground support community is stronger for Tivo.
          2) 12 months from now you may find yourself without a service.

Not if you want the on-screen guides and special recording features.
