Whispers are coming out of St. Louis and Pittsburgh that the two teams are working on a potential deal that would land Rams Quarterback Marc Bulger back in his hometown.
Bulger, who is 26, had a big year for the Rams despite having just 22 Touchdown passes, to 22 Interceptions. He was also a restricted Free Agent heading into the offseason, but was tendered by the Rams at the highest level for a RFA. If another team wanted to sign Bulger to an offer sheet, it would cost them a 1st round pick, and a 3rd round pick in this years draft. But recent history has shown that most teams are willing to negotiate trades with their RFA's, like the Jets did last year with Laveranues Coles.
The Steelers have been reluctant to give up a 1st round draft pick, instead are offering a 2nd round pick this year, and a 3rd round pick next year for Bulgers services. The Rams apparently are happy with the deal, but the deal hinges on whether the Steelers will be able to match Bulger contract demands. Bulger is seeking a signing bonus in excess of $10 million a year, and a contract with a $5 million per year average. Not a bad price for a Pro Bowl Quarterback.
If the Rams indeed dealt Bulger to the Steelers, that would clear up the $1.82 million of cap space taken up by Bulgers tender this season. It would also clear the way for former MVP Kurt Warner.
Don't look so fast though, because as reported prior, Head Coach Mike Martz might have his eye on another Quarterback. If not for next year, then definitely for the long term.

I have no idea about this guy's credibility. Today is the first time I have seen this site, but Bulger would be a perfect fit in Pittsburgh since that is where he is from and they are in desperate ned of a QB. That leaves us with KW and maybe trying to trade for Drew Henson.
