  • PC Memory suggestions

I need to purchase 2 256 MB sticks of PC133 SDRAM for my PC.

I want to spend the least amount of money possible, but I also want reliable memory. I've looked at Pricewatch.com, and the cheap memory is Generic and has a low compatability rating. Can someone direct me to memory that would be cheap and reliable?

        Thanks.

Unfortuately, I'm not really willing to soak $200 into a system that is 4 years removed from "top of the line".

Any other suggestions? I guess my question is does the "Generic" tag on memory make it any worse than "normal" memory?

            168.

I'd just buy a 512MB stick, but the manual to my computer says that the slots will accept 64, 128, and 256 MB sticks.

I can get Peripheral for 70 bucks - the non-parity kind.

I can get Kingston for about 80 to 85 on average.

                I'm thinking have two choices.

                1) I could order the generic memory and hope like hell it is compatible and it doesn't fail within 2 months of purchase

                or...

                2) Wait to see if the software I ordered runs on the system memory I currently have or order the memory at a later time.

                Thanks for your help.

                  Memory

                  69 bucks a stick.

270 to Dorsett, go right to Weldon Parkway, right there on Weldon on the left.

add in the costs of gas - that s mighty expensive memory.

but hey worth every penny if u can get to see more boobies on this forum faster.

Thanks to everyone. (Even to you, Mad).

I've decided that I'll see if this program I'm getting will run on my PC without the memory upgrade before I soak money into a dying machine.
