I think few people have respect for teachers and the thankless job they've been handed by Academe...
1) No matter what any liberal professor (or NY Senator) says, teachers are NOT parents. That is not their job, although it has been foisted upon them by the folks that make irresponsibility respectable...
2) Teachers are there to TEACH, not propagandize. Let them actually TEACH the subject matter.
3) If little Johnny flunks, don't blame the teacher; blame whatever "home-based support system" he has that is responsible for him. (Used to be called "parents".)
4) Teach the children in ENGLISH (this IS still an English-speaking country, or has that changed too?) Sorry, if I'm a student in another country, the teachers there aren't going to allow me to ignore that country's language. (Folks want to teach Darwinism in schools? Adapt or die: that's Darwinism.)
5) Pay teachers a decent starting wage!!! Yeah, if you get a high enough degree and enough CEUs the salary ain't too bad, but coming out of college an assembly line worker makes more than a teacher.

One little detail you might have missed---this woman often stayed after school to give extra help to students. Having been a teacher, I can tell you that a teacher who does that, usually does it out of dedication to getting the job done. Seldom is there any extra financial reward for the extra effort.
