I could care less if Mr. McGwire comes back or not. I still harbor bad feelings because of the way he quit and didn't try to come back. However, I better snag some tickets for that game because my main squeeze wants to know everything about him. (Did they have the second baby, was it a boy or a girl?) Sheesh.
The Cardinals should not retire his number. He had several good years with us that were tremendously exciting, but not enough time to warrant hanging a number in the ballpark. (Willie McGee might be another story)
It will be interesting to see his physique. The Redman

You're right if you base it on the numbers alone. I think that his knee was still a problem then. I say this based on only my gut feeling--He owed the fans of St. Louis a come-back attempt.

I don't think McGee was quite good enough to get his number retired, either. As BW suggests, it should be an HOF or near-HOF player, and that ain't Willie.
Albert Pujols, OTOH, will get his number retired, especially if he stays in StL for the length of that contract.
