LOOKING AT BLUES OPTIONS AT TRADING DEADLINE
    14:33:00 CST

    BREAKING THE BLUES TRADE POSSIBILITIES

    BEFORE GETTING TO THE NOTES...

Don't forget tonight is a 4 for $44 night at The Savvis, you can buy four tickets for a total of $44 and receive game notes and four coupons for a Big Mac (feel free to pass along if you don't use them). Sure, it's a good buy to take the family... but also a good buy with you and three bodies going down and making some noise (and sending me your Big Mac coupons).

    TALK AMONGST OURSELVES...

Ladies and gentlemen, friends and foes, readers and listeners...

Please stop the e-mails, as I work the Rams and Blues for insight, and breakdown the upcoming season, I can't respond to the volume of e-mails coming in hourly... so here are a list of teams in conversation with the Blues:

HOT AND HEAVY: Buffalo, Carolina, Columbus, New York Rangers and Philadelphia.

LINES OF COMMUNICATION OPENED: Minnesota and Washington.

ON THE CALL BACK LIST: Anaheim, Boston, Colorado, Florida, Ottawa and Toronto.

Here are some names bandied about, can you eliminate the ridiculous? Listed in alphabetical order: Chris Drury, Sergei Federov, Ron Francis, Jeff Halpren, Bobby Holik, Kristian Huselius, Olli Jokinen, John LeClair, Eric Lindros, Jeff O'Neill, Martin Rucinsky, Geoff Sanderson, Brendan Witt and Alexei Zhitnik.

QUESTION: Would you be surprised if the Blues top three lines a week from today were...

Line One: Keith Tkachuk, Petr Cajanek, and Pavol Demitra Line Two: Simon Gagne, Eric Lindros, and Dallas Drake Line Three: Mike Danton, Mike Sillinger, Scott Mellanby (on first PP unit)

    or

Line One: Keith Tkachuk, Petr Cajanek, and Pavol Demitra Line Two: Geoff Sanderson, Chris Drury, and Dallas Drake Line Three: Mike Danton, Mike Sillinger, Scott Mellanby (on first PP unit)

    or

Line One: Keith Tkachuk, Petr Cajanek, and Pavol Demitra Line Two: Martin Rucinsky, Bobby Holik, and Dallas Drake Line Three: Mike Danton, Mike Sillinger, Scott Mellanby (on first PP unit)

    or

Line One: Keith Tkachuk, Michal Handzus, and Pavol Demitra Line Two: Simon Gagne, Petr Cajanek, and Dallas Drake Line Three: Mike Danton, Mike Sillinger, Scott Mellanby (on first PP unit)

Mix and match as you desire, the possibilities are interesting,

    WHAT ARE THE ODDS?

With the rumors flying, what's the likelihood on players that will wear the Blue Note the rest of the season:

    Chris Pronger: 100%

    Keith Tkachuk: 100%

Dallas Drake: 100% (Save collapsing the next three games he's here. If there is a collapse, the Blues will trade out of respect for services rendered.)

Scott Mellanby: 100% (See note for Dallas Drake)

    Bryce Salvador: 85%

    Pavol Demitra: 75%

Alexander Khavanov: 50% (Toronto has interest)

Petr Cajanek: 50% (If Blues decide to keep Demitra on the wing, his chances improve.)

Doug Weight: 25% (He's headed to the Eastern Conference.)

Jamal Mayers, and Eric Boguniecki remain question marks, based on worth. Performance to date has relegated both to "throw-in" status.

NFL BTW: Terrell Owens was traded to the Baltimore Ravens.

COACH Q UPDATE: As I reported, had Colorado lost to Vancouver last night, the Avalanche would look to make a change behind the bench.

Don't be fooled by denials, Granato bought himself a weekend with the tie. If the Av's don't move upwardly, they will make a change.

If Coach Q doesn't land the gig... he will unquestionably coach the New York Rangers next season.

Hmmm. Hadley asking for Big Mac coupons. There's a shocker. And who in their right mind would e-mail him for insight on anything?

      Lindros? No, lord....please no...

Buy a ticket for Khavanov to Toronto and send him now, regardless of what you get back.
