  • GDT: GAME ONE NLCS

Let's make this short and sweet.

No poems. No pep talks. No misty-eyed strolls down Sentimental Lane.

    We don't need them.

Here's what it comes down to:

You play baseball, boys, the same way you've been playing it all year.

    We'll cheer our guts out.

And everything will be just fine.

Mr. Pujols, Mr. Carpenter, it's time for your close-ups.

    May the best team win.

That was the point. If the best team wins, we've got nothing to worry about.

This is like a Don McClean song....lots of hidden messages and sub-themes.

is that supposed to be some kind of knock against the 'Stros?

Yes, it was a knock. I can't take any team seriously that we beat by a dozen games in the regular season. OK, so you outlasted the Cubs and the Phillies and the Nats....Yawn.

And how many times has Houston won it all as a Wild Card team?

as we all know Houston's never won it...never even been the WS

but i think you'd agree that this was a completely different team at the beginning of the year because Lance Berkman was not in the lineup and the not healthy. If (and i know i'm going down a slippery slope here) Lance hadn't hurt his knee playing flag football, i think we contend a little stronger for the NL Central crown but would still finish 4-5 games back

So, basically, you're saying that even if the Astros had been at their best all season long, they still would have finished four or five games behind the Cardinals -- who, as we know, played their kids from Memphis about half the season.

If that's true, how can you even be the slightest bit confident you're going to win four of the next seven games?

I'm not nervous at all, the Cards have this.
You're being fucking dramatic. You own a TV and an air mattress. That's not exactly what I'd call "a lot to lose."
