First round predictions:

Cards in 4
Houston in 5 - I want to see a rematch as much as you guys do (or don't, maybe? )

NY in 4
BOS in 3 - The White Sox limped in, and maybe it's just my Cub fan talking, but I think Boston will handle them. Besides, do you guys really think we're going to get through this year without another NYY-BOS ALCS?

Atlanta crawled into the playoffs. Houston will beat them down, running Atlanta's dubious record to 14 and 1. (Ratio of division titles to WS wins)

Depending on how Ortiz and Ramirez are contained, Chicago can defeat the Red Sox. The Pale Hose also appeared to find themselves in the past 5 days and are playing much better ball. But I'm not sure they have the cajones to finish the job. I see Boston winning the series unfortunately.

The first game vs. San Diego is key. Carp must step up, reestablish himself (not only for his confidence and our team, but the rest of the league), and set the tone for succeeding pitchers. I don't think we'll sweep, but the Cards will win in 4 or 5.

New York smells the finish line. Their offense is clicking, but they also feel a little pressure to return to glory. Personally, I think they did themselves a grave injustice in "taking the day off" yesterday and not pushing for the win to secure the homefield advantage throughout the playoffs. Both LAA and New York have very good closers. Figgins is one heck of a player, Anderson has returned with a flourish, and then's there's always Vlad to worry about. But I don't think LAA has enough. Unfortunately I see New York moving on.

Braves to go with Hudson, not Smoltz in Game 1

QUOTE
John Smoltz has more postseason victories than any other pitcher in baseball history. He won't be starting Game 1 against the Astros' Andy Pettitte, whose 13 wins are second best, however.
I really doubt Morris will be pitching Game 3.

Supposedly the ChiSox are keeping El Duque on the roster instead of McCarthy. Weird.
