The St. Louis Cardinals have announced that right-handed pitcher Adam Ottavino has been placed on the disabled list with what the club is describing as a shoulder strain, reports Matthew Leach of MLB.com.
In his place, the Cardinals have recalled left-handed pitcher Evan MacLane from Triple-AAA Memphis.
Ottavino, who last appeared in the club's 12-5 drubbing by the Milwaukee Brewers on July 2, has put up an 0-2 record and an 8.46 ERA in five games. He's also notched 12 strikeouts to five walks.
MacLane is 5-7 with a 4.47 ERA with 55 strikeouts to 17 walks in 17 games as a starter.
