• Cards sign Berkman to one-year deal

    The St. Louis Cardinals have announced that they have signed free agent first baseman/outfielder Lance Berkman to a one-year deal.

    “He’s an impact player who not only helps solidify our everyday lineup, but he also brings a wealth of experience," Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak said in a statement.

    Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

    Berkman, 34, played 12 seasons for the Houston Astros before being dealt to the New York Yankees last season.

      Lance has not played the OF since 2007...well, he's definitely an upgrade on offense.
