• Blues, Perron agree on two-year pact

    The St. Louis Blues have announced the signing of restricted free agent David Perron to a two-year deal. The pact is said to be worth approximately $4.3 million ($1.8M and $2.5M per each season), according to St. Louis Post-Dispatch and STLToday.com beat writer Jeremy Rutherford.

    In a release, Blues executive vice-president/general manager Doug Armstrong lauded the forward's growth as a player in his short tenure in St. Louis.


    “David has proven to be a key forward on our club and we look forward to his continued development with us,” said Armstrong. “We are expecting David to grow into a complete player at this level.”
    Perron, 22, tied for fourth on the Blues with 47 points while setting new career highs in goals (20), power play goals (five), shots (166) and games played (82) in 2009-10.

    The Montreal, Quebec native was originally drafted by St. Louis in the first round (26th overall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

      1.8 and 2.5 million. Good deal in my opinion. Time for Perron to step it up and show what he can do now!

      Nice deal. Perron will need to prove himself to get the big deal after this, and the Blues should still have his rights (RFA). Good work all around by the front office.

      Now get EJ signed.

      Agreed. Less than I had anticipated. I hope EJ is more rational too. He hasn't earned his big money RFA deal either.

      Not only is this deal cheaper than I would have guessed, but it's shorter as well.

      Best part, it's shorter than I would have guessed meaning Perron is a RFA when this contract is done too (of course that's only if there's a season in 2012-13).

      Blues will not be replacing asst. GM Jarmo Kekalainen who lef tofr Finland. Larry Pleau will handle the repsonsibility of managing scouts
